Daniel Cosgrove back as AMC's Scott Chandler

Daniel Cosgrove will reprise the role of Scott Chandler on All My Children later this year. News of the actor's imminent return has been circulating for at least a week, but his return to Pine Valley has now been confirmed. Cosgrove, who has also appeared on As the World Turns and Guiding Light, will succeed Adam Mayfield, who was released by ABC earlier this month.

As widely expected, Emmy-nominated actor Daniel Cosgrove will return to All My Children by year's end. He'll reprise the role of Scott Chandler, which was vacated earlier this month when the ABC soap released actor Adam Mayfield from the show.

Cosgrove first appeared on All My Children in 1996. Two years later, the actor left Pine Valley for a more prestigious zip code -- 90210. Cosgrove's stint on the FOX primetime soap, Beverly Hills, 90210, also lasted two years.

In 2002, Cosgrove returned to daytime, securing the role of Bill Lewis on CBS's Guiding Light. During his five years with the long-running soap, Cosgrove earned two Daytime Emmy nominations. In 2008, Cosgrove was nominated in the Outstanding Supporting Actor category. A year later, he received a nod in the Outstanding Lead Actor field.

Upon the cancellation of Guiding Light, Cosgrove was rumored to be joining the cast of One Life to Live. The actor was reportedly just a few pen strokes away from being named the ABC soap's seventh Joey Buchanan. Though the reasons were never disclosed, Cosgrove and One Life to Live were unable to come to terms on a deal.

Cosgrove then moved to Procter & Gamble's other soap -- at the time, its sole remaining daytime program -- As the World Turns. By the time Cosgrove made his debut as Chris Hughes in March 2010, it had already been announced that As the World Turns would be going off the air just six months later.

Cosgrove first reported to work on November 16, though a first airdate for the actor has not yet been announced. Mayfield, who joined All My Children in April 2009, last aired on October 15.
