I'm am so not a McCain girl-I just wanted to let you know I agree with everything you said.
I'm in total agreement here Love. I am sick of this war and sick of these oil prices. Thank goodness I don't have to pay for oil for my home, but mine & my husband's cars are enough! And now I got a teen driving too! (Of course I had to tell her that gas doesn't run on fumes!)
Enough is ENOUGH!
Enough is ENOUGH!
My house is only 4 years old and everything runs by electricity. Quite a few subdivisions in my town only have electrical appliances. Matter of fact, a long time ago when I lived in Detroit, one of my apartments was electrical-only as well.
Hey Who,
I don't know how you are so lucky, but the previous owner was a contractor, and he added about two more rooms to the house. The two rooms were wired to be electrically heated. I think he managed to hook one up to the regular heating system, and I understand why. The den, however, only runs on electricity. Let me tell you. Last month, for the first time, our electric bill was over $400, and it was b/c of the heater. Our electric bill has never gone over $200.
In any event, next season, I will do some more insulating. The windows are insulated, but I was told that I should still do addt'l insulation. For example, the air ducts over the fire place takes in extra draft. I don't feel it, but I guess a little air does come through there. God bless you if your heating bill is not that high.

I've seen high heating bills when I lived in Detroit our house was in a historical neighborhood and the heat was from radiators. House was built in 1919, 4 bedrooms, 3.5 baths, kitchen, living room, dining room, library, pantry, 2 fireplaces, 3200 square feet. Loved...loved...loved the house but I had a $300-$400 gas bill monthly in the winter and the electrical bill ran around $150.
I live in NW Florida now and my electricity bill (which includes heat) runs $110 a month in the winter and around $180 (because of air - I'm in Florida) in the summer.

As a matter of fact, everything went up in price. You can’t buy anything decent at the supermarket for $20 anymore. For the bare necessities, you find yourselg shelling out $50-$100.
