ATWT Leads Craft Emmy Wins

MARY MOSHOLDER

Ohio-based Mary Mosholder is a clerk for an Air Force Reserve near Pittsburgh, PA. For Soap Opera Central, Mary provides Who's Who character biographies for both As The World Turns and Guiding Light. She's been watching GL for about three years, but has been an ATWT fan since 1992. Mary muses that her predictions weren't as easy as she'd hoped because she found it hard to choose who she thinks will win and who she wants to win.

OUTSTANDING DRAMA SERIES
All My Children. Though I haven't actually watched the show this year, I did follow the storylines and they all seemed very interesting. It seems that AMC has had the most consistent year.

OUTSTANDING LEAD ACTOR
David Canary (AMC). I'm a sucker for dual roles. I've watched this show a few times this year, and Canary does a great job portraying two very different characters. Tom Eplin (ATWT) also had a good year. He showed a lot of range as Jake, but I don't know if the Academy will reward him for it.

OUTSTANDING LEAD ACTRESS
Martha Byrne (ATWT). For the same reason as Canary. Byrne did a great job creating the character of Rose. What's interesting is instead of the bad/good twin characters we mainly see, both of these women are heroines.

OUTSTANDING SUPPORTING ACTOR
Tough choice; I'll have to go with Benjamin Hendrickson. Hendrickson's portrayal of Hal has been very intense. In my humble opinion, he's the best out of the group. However I say if he loses, it'll be to Michael E. Knight (AMC).

OUTSTANDING SUPPORTING ACTRESS
Maura West (ATWT). I think Maura had the best storyline out of the bunch. She has the ability to make Carly a villainess yet sympathetic at the same time. Of course Susan Flannery's had a good year too

OUTSTANDING YOUNGER ACTOR
They really need to rethink this category. I mean Paul Taylor can't be that much younger than Josh Duhamel. Plus why is Paul, a man in his twenties, competing with teenagers ? Anyway, my pick would have to be Jesse McCartney (AMC). I believe he had the best storyline. Plus he had to hold his own with David Canary.

OUTSTANDING YOUNGER ACTRESS
Well, Parrisse is another person I think is too old to fit in this category, but who am I to question the Academy? My pick anyway is Eden Riegel (AMC). She had the toughest storyline and for someone that young to hold her own with La Lucci, she has to be good.

OUTSTANDING WRITING IN A DRAMA SERIES
As the World Turns. This show has really turned itself around. With the new writing team, the stories have become more focused.
