The soapcentral.com team is always looking for motivated and passionate soap fans to become part of our team.

If you've ever sat in the comfort of your favorite chair or sofa and wished you could somehow parlay your love of soaps into a paying job, here's some exciting news: you can -- with a little help from Soap Central. As we continue to grow the Soap Central web site, opportunities will occasionally present themselves for qualified soap fans to become part of our team.

Daily Recaps | General Assignment Reporter | Two Scoops columnist | Who's Who character profiles | Poll Coordinator | Ratings

Daily Recaps

Have you ever missed your favorite soap because the power's been out or your VCR ate your tape? Even in this high-tech age, there's always a chance that something will come between you and an episode of your favorite show. For the past 15 years, we've been providing detailed, daily recaps for all the soaps.

If you have strong writing skills and can meet deadlines, you may want to consider providing recaps for the Soap Central site. Interested? The first step should be to review the recaps that are already posted to the site -- don't overlook this step. [Click here to go to our recaps page.] This will give you a good feel for the length and style of what we're looking for, as well as familiarize you with some of the unusual name spellings.

Here are some other tips:

Currently, we are seeking recappers for the following soaps:
General Hospital
The Young and the Restless

Deadline:
Recaps are due by 1:00am Eastern on the day following the broadcast of that episode. Monday's recap, for example, is due just after midnight -- Tuesday morning, 1:00am Eastern.

Compensation:
Compensation is provided per recap, and will be discussed upon submission of a suitable sample recap.

If you are still interested, the next step would be to provide us with a sample recap using the guidelines mentioned above. Your recap will be reviewed, and we will contact you if we are interested in exploring a possible relationship with you. Please email your recaps to us by clicking here.

General Assignment Reporter

In the world of soaps, there is always something going on. On a typical day, that might involve a story about a performer leaving a show, or a soap vet landing a role in a feature film.

If you have strong writing skills, can meet deadlines, and like the unpredictability of not knowing what the next big story might be, you may want to consider working as a general assignment reporter for the Soap Central site. Interested? The first step should be to review some of the news stories posted to the site. This will give you a good feel for the length and style of what we're looking for.

Currently, we are seeking reporters for the following soaps:
General Soap News
All My Children
The Bold and the Beautiful
Days of our Lives
General Hospital
One Life to Live
The Young and the Restless

Deadline:
There is no regularly scheduled deadline, but the ability to offer a quick turnaround with assignments is important.

Compensation:
Compensation is provided per completed and accepted article.

If you are still interested, the next step would be to provide us with a sample recap using the guidelines mentioned above. Your recap will be reviewed, and we will contact you if we are interested in exploring a possible relationship with you. Please email your recaps to us by clicking here.

Two Scoops

Every week, our Two Scoops staff provides a witty, in-depth look at the previous week on each soap in our Two Scoops commentary column. If you're a die-hard soap fan and able to provide an entertaining commentary without being overly negative, this might be something that you'd want to consider. Columns are posted each week based on the previous week of shows.

Currently, we are seeking Two Scoops columnists for the following soaps:
The Young and the Restless

Deadline:
Columns must be submitted by 4:00pm ET on Saturday for that week of shows

Compensation:
Compensation is provided per column.

If you are still interested, the next step would be to provide us with a sample column using the guidelines mentioned above. Your submission will be reviewed, and we will contact you if we are interested in exploring a possible relationship with you. Please email your sample column to us by clicking here. <

Who's Who Character Profiles

If you are a soap fan who believes that the viewers know the characters better than many of the shows' writers, this may be something that will interest you. Our Who's Who character profiles provide an in-depth look at the characters on the soaps. The profiles have everything covered -- from crimes to hospitalizations to the many, many marriages and affairs.

If you have strong writing skills and know your history, you may want to consider providing character profiles for the Soap Central site. Interested? The first step should be to review the profiles that are already posted to the site. This will give you a good feel for the length and style of what we're looking for.

Here are some other tips:

Currently we are seeking character profiles for the following soaps:
All My Children
As the World Turns
Days of our Lives
General Hospital
Guiding Light
Passions
Port Charles
Sunset Beach

Deadline:
There is no set schedule for submissions, though writers will typically set up a regular schedule by which to make their updates.

If you are still interested, the next step would be to provide us with a sample character profile. Before doing so, please email us by clicking here.

Poll Coordinator

This shouldn't come as a surprise -- but soap fans are very opinionated. Make that very opinionated! Because of that, they are also looking for a chance to weigh in with their thoughts on a variety of issues. To help keep fans satisfied, we are looking for creative fans who can come up with topical and interesting show-related opinion questions on a regular basis. Questions may relate to current news or storyline events.

Currently, we are seeking poll coordinators for the following soaps:
The Bold and the Beautiful
Days of our Lives
General Hospital
The Young and the Restless

Deadline:
There is no set schedule for days on which polls must be submitted. Ideally, this would be done on a regular interval, perhaps weekly or more often, if needed.

Compensation:
Compensation can be provided per poll or as a flat fee per month of work.

Please email us if you are interested, along with an example of a poll (with responses) for your soap of interest by clicking here. If you are interested in providing polls for more than one soap, please let us know each of the soaps that you follow.

Compensation is offered for this position.

Ratings Updater

Every week, the Nielsen organization releases the latest ratings for each soap opera. We're looking for someone who has an understanding of HTML and can create a web page with the latest rating information for each soap and network, as well as the combined total for all the soaps currently on the air.

Deadline:
