Soap actresses try their hand at TV production in new reality show

Vanessa Marcil, Hunter Tylo, Chrystee Pharris, Lindsay Hartley, Crystal Hunt, and Donna Mills will star in a new documentary series, Queens of Drama, which follows them as they develop and pitch a primetime drama series.

Several popular soap stars will be taking a turn on reality TV in the upcoming POP Network documentary series Queens of Drama. The cameras won't just follow the actresses in their lives as usual; the women will be taking on a new project -- developing a new primetime drama series.

Queens of Drama will star Lindsay Hartley (ex-Cara Castillo, All My Children; ex-Arianna Hernandez, Days of Our Lives; ex-Theresa Crane, Passions), Hunter Tylo (ex-Taylor Hayes, The Bold & the Beautiful; ex-Marina Toscano Johnson, DAYS; ex-Robin McCall, AMC), Vanessa Marcil (ex-Brenda Barrett, General Hospital), and Chrystee Pharris (ex-Katie, GH; ex-Simone Russell, Passions), and Crystal Hunt (ex-Stacy Morasco, One Life to Live; ex-Lizzie Spaulding, Guiding Light).

Donna Mills (Madeline Reeves, GH; ex-Abby Ewing, Knots Landing) will not be a regular cast member but will have special appearances in the series.

Cameras will follow the action as the actresses work to create a new primetime drama. The stars will work on every aspect of the show they're creating. They'll all pitch ideas, work behind the scenes to create the show, and work to land a pilot deal. Should the pilot pitch be successful, they'll all star in the pilot of the show they created. That means fans might get to see them not only in Queens of Drama but in their newly created show if it gets picked up.

The reality series will debut on POP Network in 2015. POP Network is currently known as The TV Guide Network (TVGN) but will rebrand itself with the new name in 2015. Queens of Drama will be produced by Thinkfactory Media. Adam Reed, Adam Freeman, Aaron Fishman, Tim Laurie, and Leslie Greif will serve as Executive Producers.

Adam Reed has teased on his Twitter that great things are ahead for viewers of the series. "Truly a pleasure to be working with pros. I promise u have NEVER seen a series like this," he said in an October 10, 2014, tweet.
