It's a case of art imitating life. Or maybe it's life imitating art. Well, whatever it is, it's definitely all about Ambitions.
Ambitions, the latest soapy drama on Oprah's OWN Network, has started production and there are more than a few ties to our daytime soaps. Ambitions is described as "a multigenerational family saga centered around one woman who, having recently relocated [to Atlanta] and intent on revitalizing her marriage, finds herself going head to head with some of the most powerful and deceitful players in the city."
Robin Givens, who has been making appearances as Dr. Phillips on The Bold and the Beautiful, headlines the new series. She is joined by Essence Atkins (Marlon and Half and Half), Brian White (Ray Donovan and Scandal), Kendrick Cross (Acrimony, Tales from the Hood 2), Brely Evans (Turnt and Being Mary Jane), and Erica Page (Ozark and Bad Dad Rehab)
Ambitions, is the brainchild of Daytime Confidential's Jamey Giddens, who serves as executive producer and writer of the project. Giddens previously cowrote the first season of Victoria Rowell's The Rich and the Restless. Kevin Arkadie has joined as showrunner. Ambitions is based on an original idea by producer Will Packer.
Currently in production in Atlanta, Ambitions is slated to debut on OWN in 2019. We have, however, been given some scoop on Givens' character. Givens will play Stephanie Carlisle, the wife of Atlanta Mayor Evan Lancaster (played by Brian White), whose true loyalty is to her own family's prestigious law firm, where she is the latest in a long line of distinguished lawyers. Stephanie desperately wants to be in charge of the Carlisle family law firm and quietly fumes about her father Stephen's condescending assertion that she's simply not ready yet.
As soon as a premiere date is announced, we'll update this article with all the details. We will also share the details on our Soap Central social media accounts -- @soapcentral on Twitter and Facebook.
