Obama wove the following words in some of his speeches, and he used them in his closing speech on the eve of the election. He got those words from a local politician in a small town. Here are those words: “Fired up! Fired up! Are you ready to go?” I was saying it all day yesterday. A handful of people, who weren’t following the campaign, looked at me and said “huh?” As a matter of fact, when I got off the elevator yesterday, at work, I said to a group of people, who were getting on the elevator, “Fired up!” One woman said, “What?” I replied, “Obama!” Everyone suddenly got excited and shouted, “Obama!”
It’s time for a change, and America has spoken. It’s time for us to roll up our sleeves and get together and do what is best for the country. Obama cannot do it alone. He needs our help, so let’s give it to him.
Fired up! Fired up! Are you ready to help President Elect, Barack Obama?
This is my fave of all songs related to the presidential campaign. It reminds of the song, "We Are the World." This song touches me the same way "We Are the World" touched me.
There are some people out there who still think that Barack Obama is Muslim. The fact of the matter is that Obama is a Christian. Just recently, at a McCain rally, a woman came out and said that she could not trust Obama because he is an Arab. What the hell? How in the world can someone think that Obama is an Arab? Is it his name? For crying out loud; I don't have a typical name, and I must admit that some people do judge one by his or her name. I have both an Italian and an Irish name, and I'm neither. It's truly sad, isn't it? Most of it is ignorance. Some people need to get out more. Mingle with others of different cultures. One will find that those other cultures are no different from us. They eat, sleep, dream, go to work, take care of their families just like the rest of us.
"Has John McCain's campaign created an environment that fosters hatred words?"
McCain's sidekick practically called Obama a terrorist, and that's exactly how an audience member referred to Obama at one of McCain's rallies. It's dangerous and unpredictable. This type of behavior will not help John McCain. It may just backfire on him. John McCain has to realize that not all of his supporters are ignorant. A few of them are college educated and they know better. The latter group has spoken out against McCain's negative campaigning, so where does that leave the rest of McCain's supporters? Most of them are stuck in the era of slavery. It's time to move on, people. Slavery has been abolished. It's a new day, and things have changed. It's time to leave the "box." It's okay, really. The world won't end.
Some people are worried about the "Bradley Effect." That's when whites tell pollsters that they will vote for someone black, but when they are behind the curtain, they vote for someone white. My personal opinion is that if the "Bradley Effect" were a factor, Obama would not have won in the Democratic Primary. Yes, the issue of race is a factor, but I do believe the the majority of people can look beyond race and choose the right person for the job.
