There are two really great Canadian tv shows on right now. Does anyone else watch Falcon Beach and Degrassi the Next Generation?
I just finished watching an episode of Degrassi. This show has great storylines that I'm sure teenagers deal with all the time - drug abuse, gang fighting, teen pregnancy, homosexuality, STD's to name a few. The students at degrassi are mourning their friend J.T. right now. J.T. was one of my favorite characters, so I am kind of in mourning too. What happened was he started dating this girl, and her ex-boyfriend did not like it much. He didn't like it so much that he stabbed J.T. 
Some of the students have graduated and the show is telling their stories from college. In the last episode, Paige was suffering some anxiety attacks because she's been so stressed at school. And she ended up realizing that what she was studying was not for her. While Ellie wants to be a reporter but has to deal with the crappy assignments the school paper reserves for freshmen (although dating the editor, has helped her out

Falcon Beach is like a night soap opera, the show is based on a fictional town during the summer tourist season. (I think the town is supposed to be in Winnipeg). Paige and Lane are siblings from a rich family. The family has sort of taken over the town, tried to make it more touristy by building a resort etc. A local named Jason is in love with Paige, and Paige loves him too. Paige is a smart confident woman, who during the winter season goes to college for business studies. Jason runs the local marina with his mom. And a local named Tanya is - I think in love - with Lane. I say "I think" because Lane is a real jerk. He deals drugs, embezzles from his dad's company, cheats on Tanya, and he has killed someone (in self-defense). So Tanya has now turned to the local Dr. in town for some ohh la la comfort. Tanya used to live in Europe, she was a model, and she has some substance abuse problems. Also, Jason's best friend Danny, was/is in love with Erin, who got pregnant last summer but lost the baby. Erin is a tourist, so she went home because she was too upset and sad to be with him, but she has just returned to falcon beach in the season finale.... so I'm not sure what will happen with that. http://www.falconbeach.ca/
