Bo & Hope: Super Couple, Super Cheesy and Still Super Awesome!
Bo and Hope - The Weddings.JPG hosted for free by ImageShack

Bo and Hope, now there’s a love story for the ages! A “princess” meets a rough and tumble rebel with a heart of gold, they wed, have a kid, wed again, have another kid, wed again and … gee … there’s a pattern there! Nevertheless, this daytime dynamic duo helped add a “fancy” face to the 80’s super couple phenomena and, like a fine wine, they’re only getting better with age!  So, to celebrate their most recent trip down the isle, I’ve listed some of the special touches that made their vow renewal all that more, well, special! But, before we look at the present, let’s do a quick run down of their other marriages …

1984: Oak Alley Plantation! This wasn’t an “official” one, but Bo and Hope exchanged vows to one another then sealed the deal – they made love for the first time!

1985: The real deal – Hope and Bo tie the knot in a lavish “Royal” English Wedding! Most of the cast and crew flew to the UK for the big event and it was reported that Kristian Alfonso liked the dress she wore as Hope so much that she actually borrowed it for her real life nuptials in 1987.

2000 (June): Bo and Hope have a quickie, hospital bedside wedding in order to beat the birth of their second child! Only Shawn Douglas and a few hospital employees were present, well, until baby Zack popped out.

2000 (December): Technically, this wedding was more of a vow renewal as the couple was already wed in June. Regardless, Hope put on a white dress, Bo a tux and they marched down the isle at St. Luke’s to pledge their love for one another – again!

And now for some random 2008 Vow Renewal Info …

Hope’s Something Old, New, Borrowed and Blue:

Something Old: First, Maggie gave Hope an antique handkerchief from the Brady Family’s hope chest.

Something New: Next, Kayla presented her with a new bracelet from Baron’s Department Store.

Something Borrowed: Then Julie loaned her a necklace that belonged to their late mother, Addie Horton (yes, they’re half-sisters)!

Something Blue: Finally, Chelsea handed  Hope a lacey blue garter!

By the way, if you’re curious about where that entire tradition came from, feel free to click here for the info I obtained after a little Google searching!

The Rings:

Hope’s ring was an exact replica of the one she lost at sea several years ago (I don’t particularly remember this happening – rewrite? Is my mind going? Not sure). Regardless, Bo lured the same jeweler out of retirement who forged the same ring for Hope! The only difference is that he added the date of their most recent nuptials next to the original date.

Bo’s ring was also pretty special as it belonged to Shawn Sr.! All together now, “Awe!” Caroline confidently handed it over to commemorate this new beginning for Bo and Hope.

The Words:

Although Caroline read the following passage on Alice’s behalf as she couldn’t attend the  ceremony, it was Sir Walter Scott, a Scottish novelist and poet, who wrote the words that Alice read to Tom on their wedding day and each anniversary that followed.

True love's the gift which God hath given,

To man alone beneath the heaven.

The silver link, the silver tie, which heart to heart, and mind to mind,

in body and in soul can find.

That’s it folks! I hope everyone enjoyed this little shrine to everything Bo and Hope. Make sure to check back next year around this time for new information on their newest vow renewal or wedding!

Bo and Lindsay? Ewww.

(Introduction: This is my first blog post at SoapCentral! I don't post on the boards because I can't deal with all the fighting. I make fan videos and post them on YouTube (view my channel here), and I'll talk about my favorite soaps in this blog. My number one soap is General Hospital, followed closely by All My Children, and then One Life to Live. I watch The Young and the Restless and As the World Turns on and off, although lately it's been off.)

One Life to Live has been really, uniformly excellent lately. And, then, bam, they hit me with freaking Bo and Lindsay getting married. I've never been a fan of them as a couple, and I hate Lindsay no matter who she's with. I've never forgiven her for breaking up Bo and Nora's marriage in the first place.

But this proposal and sudden wedding? I love Bo to death, but how awful was it for him to propose in the funeral parlor? And then when she finally (after lying through her teeth about being honest) agreed to marry him and they started making out in front of Nash's coffin? Poor, poor Nash.

And now they're getting married on the same day as Nash's burial service? How frigging insensitive is that? I, like Nora, may have to throw up. And if I were Tess, I would so add Uncle Bo and "Aunt" Lindsay to my list, if you know what I'm saying.

What I learned Day of Our Lives this week:

This week I learned that claustrophobia can be cured by sex. Thanks, DOOL! It's good to know that you're on top of the latest medical breakthroughs. Chloe and Lucas got it on in an elevator! Chloe's still gorgeous, Lucas still has bad hair, but at least this plotline is mildly interesting.

EJ and Nicole on the other hand... They were in the next elevator over, and the difference was astounding. I really, really like those two together.

And poor Sami... okay, I can't say "Poor Sami," with a straight face. Hopefully now that both of her men have moved on, she'll get some good revenge, plot something, etc. I want a return to the Sami of yore!

What else? Um, Daniel and Chelsea still creep me out. It's not the age difference that bothers me so much as the fact that watching the two of them together is akin to watching grass grow. We were bombarded this week with Bo's disapproval, and OMG, it's so much like how Doug didn't approve of Bo and Hope... Daniel and Chelsea must therefore be just like Bo and Hope! Give me a fricking break. They are not just like Bo and Hope, because Bo and Hope have oodles and oodles of chemistry, and Daniel and Chelsea have none.

Speaking of lack of chemistry, there's Morgan and Phillip. *snore*

At least Tamara Braun is around to keep things interesting as Ava! I love her so much. John destroyed the disk with his memories this week, but I have a feeling that he'll eventually get them back somehow and go back to being the old John. That's too bad however, I'm quite enjoying this incarnation. Maybe they can take a page from General Hospital's book and pull a Jason Morgan on John? Jason still hasn't gotten back his memories and it's what--twelve, thirteen years later?

A Degenerate Psychopath, an Idiotic Teenage Boy, and a Complete and Utter Moron

Three characters dominate my thoughts after wrapping up  this week's episodes of One Life to Live.  One is a degenerate psychopath.  One is an idiotic teenage boy. And the final one is a complete and utter moron.

A Degenerate Psychopath

Let's start with Todd.  I was appalled by the scene of him picking Marty up in his arms to carry her downstairs.  This is a woman he once raped, who has lost all of her memories.  Correct that, she is not merely the woman he raped, he led and encouraged others in gang-raping her.  He is supposed to have felt tortured by this all these years? Hogwash.  He would never lay a hand on her if that were the case.  I actually felt queasy watching him pick her up.  And then he filled her head with lies by saying how John is responsible for breaking up his marriage to Blair and him losing his kids.  Oh, and then he lied again and told her that she doesn't have any children.  Although who can really blame him for that, because after all, what was the alternative?  He would have had to tell her that her son was dead, or was in prison for raping his daughter, in order to explain why he hadn't brought her son to see her.  What a sacrifice.  That Todd, it must be so tough always putting others ahead of himself.

An Idiotic Teenage Boy

Poor Cole.***  Yes, he's in pain from losing both of his parents and thinks he has no one in the world (although that belief is wrong since the degenerate psychopath discussed above is hiding his mother, but I digress).  He thinks it will be so wonderful to have a mini-version of himself and Starr to take care of.   The kid obviously had no idea what it will be like to take care of a baby.  Much less alone if he and Starr are not together.  He thinks he is going to take care of this kid and hold a job?  He's 17 for crying out loud!  I think Starr's choice of Michael and Marcie is ridiculous, and while there is some obvious self-interest in not sacrificing her future, she really is thinking of what is best for the baby.    I can't believe Cole is going to tell Todd next week that Starr is pregnant in hopes of keeping her from giving the baby away.  Does he not remember that Todd almost killed him twice and caused Starr to fall down a flight of stairs.  All sympathy I ever had for Cole is now gone with this stunt he is about to pull.

A Complete and Utter Moron

Poor Bo.***  I don't even know what to say. I mean, seriously, the man is such a moron.  I've written about him before and don't know that I can add anything substantive here, but I couldn't write about this week's episodes without mentioning his stupidity.  And of course, Nora will be blamed by everyone for ruining Bo's happiness.  Hello! He was about to marry a woman who killed someone and faked a nervous breakdown to get out of it.  What in the world is Nora supposed to do?  She is the district attorney. Oh, and Lindsay was about to be her son's step-mother.  I was rather surprised at Clint's reaction when Nora told him.  I would have thought he would have taken on the burden of telling Bo privately before the ceremony.  But everyone seems to give Lindsey the benefit of the doubt no matter what.  Poor Bo, poor, poor Bo.***

***Please note that when I say "Poor Cole" and "Poor Bo", it is the equivalent of us Texans saying "Bless Your Heart" to someone, which basically mean "You poor thing, you are such an idiot".

My 3 Least Favorite Characters of All Time--OLTL's Marcie, Jared and Bo

Marcie

I can't believe that Marcie is going to avoid prison time.  Let me re-phrase that--I can believe it given that this is Llanview and given that in the world of soaps, it is all about actor's contracts, but I am disgusted that Marcie is going to avoid prison time.  First of all, it is preposterous.  Todd was awarded legal custody and she took off--it's called kidnapping.  After months of hiding out, when everything is closing in on her, she holes up in a diner and holds someone at gunpoint.  I don't care how much everyone believes she wouldn't have hurt anyone, she endangered lives.  She should serve time for this.  They could at least have given her a short sentence.  Secondly, I find Marcie to be the most annoying character in the history of soaps.  I had hoped that this storyline would result in her being carted off to prison and us not seeing her for quite some time.  I should have known, this is Llanview....

Jared

I am utterly disgusted by this guy.  What is wrong with him?  He is pretending to be a Buchanan, but still wants to be with Natalie and plans to tell her that he loves her.  He is supposed to be her uncle.  Charlie was absolutely right calling him on it this week.  This whole storyline makes me want to barf.

Bo

It's a strong statement to put Bo in my 3 least favorites, but his behavior is preposterous.  While I'm not happy to see Ramsey as the new police commissioner, I didn't mind seeing Bo fired one bit.  He thinks he can take in a "head case" killer and not have to account for it.  He argues that his personal life is his business--wrong.  He has a duty to the public.  AND HE'S CLUELESS!!!  I can't stand the fact that he can't see through Lindsey's ruse.  He thinks the worst of Nora in all circumstances and he thinks the best of Lindsey in all, and she's killed 2 people in the last 10 years.  What is wrong with this man?
