S.O.S. campaign starts NOW!!!
S.O.S. – Save Our Show
Ok, everyone, it’s time to get involved! Mark your calendars!
The week of Sept. 8-12, 2008 is the week to participate - spread the word!
Mon, Tues., Thurs., and Fri, - Every GL fan should tune in.
Wednesday Sept. 10, 2008 – DO NOT TUNE IN! (this one day only)
I sent the letter out today (Aug. 28, 2008) via certified mail to Barbara Bloom. I anticipate that GL will receive it within 3-5 days, and then add several days for it to get noticed. (see the letter above).
We need every GL fan, everyone who wants to see GL be successful – this is the time to be heard! We need everyone to participate and be counted!
Here’s what to do:
1. Starting now (Aug. 28, 2008) call or write to GL at the information provided
below. Read this brief script:
“I will be participating in an organized campaign during the week of
September 8-12, 2008, designed to let the voices of the fans be heard.
It is my hope that positive changes can be made, including the ideas listed in
the certified letter. There are (fill in the blank) number of people in my
household that watch GL.”
We want TPTB to be aware of how many people are participating in this by hearing this same message. Call only once please. If you prefer to write, I suggest a postcard or a letter that only states the script. With all voices united with the same message, it will strengthen the voice AND the message.
2. Then during the week of September 8-12, tune in to GL on the 4 designated days and tune out on Wednesday September 10th. Whether you intend to watch that day or not, tune in (or out on Wedesday) anyway, to be counted. Watch or don’t watch any show you want, but participate by tuning in (and out) to help make an impact!
3. Then, return to your regular viewing patterns and be patient while we wait for an adjustment period to put changes into place and get them to air on TV. That should be approximately 2 months +/- That’s it! It’s quite easy to participate in this effort where together, we hope to serve as a ‘Guiding Light’ for our beloved show to get back on a successful course.
Help spread the word!
* Post this notice and the letter on any message board that will permit it.
* Post this on your blog. Encourage others that you know who have blogs to post this
too.
* Post this on MySpace. Post this as a bulletin for all of your friends to see and
add the not to pass it around. Post a comment that directs people to this blog or
to your site that has this information.
* Post this on Facebook, or any other social networking pages.
* Send this in an email to as many people possible, and ask that it be forwarded on.
Please add the reminder of when this ends. (this doesn’t need to be Snopes.com as
an urban myth in 5 years because it never ended!
* Call or write to soap magazines and let them know about this. If they get a lot of
calls and if this creates a lot of buzz, they may be able to help (if printing time
allows)
* See if this can be printed in any free publications, to help spread the word.
* It is crucial that people with Neilson ratings diaries and systems know about this.
If you know how to reach any, please ask for their help with this.
There’s not much time to create a buzz about this, so I am relying on us all to pull together to help this iconic and loved show!
One more thing, and this is just an optional thing:
I would like an email from everyone who participated, from everyone who called the show, or made a post somewhere. It will be at least some sort of gauge as to how effective this campaign is. My email is listed below.
I’ll keep everyone updated through my SOC blog. (soapcentral.com, ID = Suzie NC46)
Thanks to everyone who takes the time to add their voice!

Sample Letters to help oust Frons
Thanks for checking out the blog. This is the place to see some sample letters to help our letter writing campaign to help oust Frons and save ABC daytime TV. Remember we have a purpost to this. We are tired of the vindictive way our vets have been treated since Frons took over and decided to "train" the viewers to his "vision" of daytime TV. Since Frons took over ratings for AMC have dropped. Emmy nominations are almost non existent and Emmy wins- well you now the answer to that.
On October 11 and the 11th of every month after that we are going to send letters to the sponsors and the board of Disney. In the past letter writing has helped to improve everything from story writing, to more airtime for fan favorites, to getting contracts for actors. It doesn't matter if you are a fan of AMC, OLTL, GH or all three. We are not writing letters to help any one particular Soap. We are writing these letters to help them all. Get your pens and paper ready and sent those letters!
Here is one sample of a letter to a sponsor. Please feel free to use part or all of it AND please feel free to add your own. I will also be blogging the names and addresses of people to write to. If you know of any people to write to add them as well. We are all in this together. I will be posting other letters and specific addresses in the days to come.

Dear Ms. Green
As a long time viewer of daytime programs at ABC, I now feel that I can no longer sit by and watch the decimation of a genre I so love. I am writing to you because I see that Pillsbury is one of the sponsors of dayimte programming at ABC and as a long-standing consumer of Pillsbury products I fee that this travesty must be brought to your attention.
Brian Frons, the president of ABC daytime, has been allowed to destroy our beloved programs. He has absolutely no regard for the demographics of the programs, the same demographics that buy your products. He insults women over the age of 35 by firing long standing female actors and replaces them with young teenagers or 20 something women. He has males who verbally abuse women as his main characters. He has no regard for balance on his programs. He has stated more than once that he wants to change the "vision" of daytime TV and "train" his audience. How insulting! This vision certainly did not work on The View and it is failing horribly with the daytime Soap Operas.
I am not writing this letter to tell you that I am forever done with ABC daytime. Far from that, I am hoping that you can help us. I am writing to you as a loyal Pillsbury consumer an over 40 one at that! Please let ABC know that there are many fans out there that do watch ABC soaps AND your commercials that want to see ABC daytime thrive instead of flounder. IF Brian Frons is allowed to keep his job at ABC, I will no longer be able to support ABC or any products advertised on their programs. I am fully prepared to completely boycott. I have done this with Walmart over the treatment ot their employees and have no problem doing so again. Please help us oust Brian Frons as president of ABC daytime. His slash and burn tactics must stop. His vindictive destruction of Soap Operas and daytime TV in general should not be allowed.
I thank you in advance for any help that you can give.
