I can't help but think of past couples when I think of summer time on soaps. This is when I become nostalgic. Thinking about the first couple I liked on soaps. The first teen/young couple. How they fell in love. The journey. The romance. The songs and fanfiction that suit them well. Oh how I miss those days of sweet innocence with holding hands and flirting. Couples with actors that have such nice chemistry and ease.

A few of them have that today, but there is a lot of forced couple-ship going on. We all know sometimes it can't be avoided (like when a recast comes) but sometimes they are just beating a dead horse. Or sometimes they are trying to re-capture what the two actors once had.

We might not all agree what couple have chemistry but for the most part there is a majority and writers should try to represent them. From there great writing and pacing of time you can win over most of the people. You have to have a song in your heart. Something smooth and jazzy, maybe even loud. When you look at them you should think of a love song about to unravel. After all writing is a art-form, just as poetry and song writing. That is why I dedicate this week of my first blog to people who participate in the art of love, and art. I will have various pictures of couples that I thought represented what daytime should have in their love story. Whether it be a singer, a personal favorite couple of mines or an example of romance gone wrong. They will be my personal take on the art of romance. After all we watch soap operas but we do campaigns for who we want to be together...or for those we long for.


This first banner is of Christina Aguilera. Not only is she one of my favorite singers but she has the ability to make a song romantic and strong just with her voice. This is why I picked her for my first choice. Even when you are not familiar with a couple on television you are suppose to see their strength and the romance and love they share. By the way they look at each other, talk to one another, how protective they are. You know they should be together...even if it isn't forever. Forever is for the blessed few. But you can still appreciate what you had with that person and always know that they have a piece of your heart.

Opening Caveat:  I am not now, nor was I ever, involved in any of the fanwars.  I was not a huge fan of Jovan, Jolie, Tangaline, Crave/Cringe, Java, Jash, Tash, T&B,  or any other character or couple.  These are just my thoughts after seeing way too many threads degenerate into overheated slanging matches.

 

Why do we feel the need to have at each other in the most uncivilized fashion over what is, at the end of the day, a fictional character or couple.  I understand that we all have our favorites, and the world of daytime drama being what it is, sometimes those favorites get the short end of the storyline stick.  Ultimately, though, that is the decision of those in charge at ABC.  Taking it out on other posters, who disagree with you is not only absurd, but juvenile. 

 

Every single character has had a potential golden storyline killed for arcane reasons best known to TIIC and their magic crack pipe.  Gabrielle being killed by the Music Box Killer destroyed the marvelous potential of the Bo and Gabby romance, which was shaping up so nicely.  The Max and Roxie pairing had definite possibilities of an offbeat supercouple.  Ditto for Nigel and Roxie.  

 

Save your venom for the people who make the decisions, not the people who simply have different tastes in characters/couples/storylines.

Passions, I don't really watch Passions much anymore, but I have a soft spot for the old days:

Kay and JM's Miguel-I don't really care about them now, but I always thought Miguel would've been better w/ Kay than Charity back in the day.

Theresa and Ethan-This couple is like a labor of love to stay attached to because it never worked out right, but I loved them nonetheless. Freakin Gwen...

Jessica and Reese-I thought they had great potential.

Fox.1 and Theresa-I don't like my girl with the Fox recast, but I loved her and the original Fox.

Chad.1 and Whitney-Family relations aside, Whit and Chad number 1 were a couple that I def. rooted for back in the day.

Luis and Sheridan-At least, I loved them for a long time. Now I'm kinda meh...

 

GH:

Sonny and Brenda-One of the first GH couples that I can remember, and certainly one of my favorites. I loved who they were together and I'll always root for them to be together.

Brenda and Jason-So the marriage wasn't real, so what? They had terrific chemistry, and I wish GH would have gone with it. That would have made for some nice Sason drama.

Jason and Robin-This couple is one of the ones that is closest to my heart. I loved them so much, and I'll always root for them to be together in the end.

Robin and Nik-Two words...butt grab...that's all you need to know.

Zander and AT's Emily-They were total magic. I try to erase all the ZEm stuff that happened after the recast from my memory.

Liz and JJ's Lucky-They were MY couple. They were about 4 or 5 years older than me, and I totally idolized them. When Lucky died, I bawled like a baby. I hate what's happened to them since then, and I wish they'd just stop, but that's a whole other conversation...

Liz and Jason-I've been waiting about 8 years for them, and I absolutely refuse to give up lol. I need my Liason. "You smell like snow." "Snow doesn't smell." "Yes it does."

Zander and Carly/Sonny and Alexis-I put them together because this is a glaring example of GH ticking me off beyond belief. Carson was broken up thankfully, and they both had great chemistry with other people, but since GH is annoyingly attached to Carson, Zarly and Sexis never got to realize their full potential...*sigh*

SB's Carly and Sonny-*gasp* I didn't always hate Carson. In fact, I loved this version, but I hated every incarnation after it. They just made me mad.

Dillon and Georgie-Before they got married that is. After that, it all went downhill.

Georgie and Diego-GH failed me here, grrr...

Dillon and Lulu-Only before the pregnancy. GH screwed them up with that imo.

Spinelli and Lulu-Come on GH, give it to me, pleeeeeeeease!

Georgie and Logan-I know the writing is one the wall for lnl3, but somebody please put the brakes on. GLo would be much more awesome.

Maxie and Zander-They never stood a chance, but I rooted for them anyways.

Maxie and Lucky-Yeah I know she was his dealer, but I still thought they had great chemistry.

Maxie and Cooper-:D I love my 3M.

Cruz and Sam-I know we'll probably get lusam, but I'd rather have Crusam. Cruz has been pretty nice to her in the past, and I think they'd look awesome together.

Felicia and Luke-Yes I'm crazy, just go with it.

Skye and Luke-<3

Tracy and Luke-Yeah so I really don't want lnl together apparently lol...

Kelly and Stan-I'm pretty sure it's gonna be Stan/Lainey, but I thought he had better chemistry with Kelly.

Coleman and Lainey-:D

 

 

Rex and Jen-They weren’t perfect people, but I loved them together. I miss Jen…

Cris and Jess-They were like the first couple I fell in love with on OLTL. I grew up watching them, and thinking they’d be together forever.

Jess and Nash-I wasn’t really expecting to like them. I didn’t really like Nash at first. However, they managed to pull me in.

Kevin and Kelly, round 1-Before they left town the first time and they were sneaking around behind Joey’s back, I totally loved them together. After they came back, it was meh for me.

Todd and Tea-Tea was like the best thing ever for me cuz I she kept away tnb for a while which made me personally ecstatic. I can appreciate anybody that keeps my boy Todd away from Blair. TnT rocked in my opinion. I think they had tons of potential…

Cris and Lindsay-They have chemistry, that’s all I’m gonna say…:D.

Marcie and Al-I dunno what the hell OLTL was thinking when they killed off Al cuz Al and Marcie were excellent together.

Antonio and Sophia-*cries* They never really had a shot.

Antonio and Thalia-They’d dang well better get a shot *growl*.

Cris and Natalie-He’s the only guy I’ve loved Nat with, and I hate that she picked John over Cris.

John and Marty-I generally hate John, but I enjoy him when he’s in scenes with Marty and Cole. I think they could make a nice family.

Vicki and Ben-Blondie…*cries*

Todd and Evangeline-This is the total winner for me, and it breaks my heart that we’ll probably never get to see them together. They’re still my favorite though.

B&B:

Deacon and Macy-I loved everything about them…that’s all.

Deacon and Brooke-Yeah it was skeevy as hell, but I’m pretty sure he’s the only guy I ever really enjoyed her with

CJ and Amber-Only guy I’ve loved Amber with. They were so cute with Little whatever his name is now …lol

 

Days:

Brady and Chloe-For me, Phloe can’t hold a candle to Broe. Once I saw Broe, pretty much everything else faded away.

Brady and Nicole-Just because I love Broe, that doesn’t mean I didn’t like anything else. Bricole didn’t get a real shot though. They always had Nicole being all shady, which I thought was unnecessary.

Nicole and Austin-Nicole is the only girl to get me to EVER like Austin. Before he left, when they kissed, I almost died. And I hate that they never got a real shot.

Belle and Shawn-I go back and forth with them. I loved them when they first got together. Then I got sick of them when they were like in college. Then I started liking them again a few months ago. Now I’m kinda undecided about them.

Mimi and Jason-Don’t look at me like that. Blame the fan fiction lol, cuz it got me hooked on the idea of Mason :D.

Jan and Phil-That’s bad Jan, not crazy Jan. I thought they could’ve been great together.

Bo and Billie-Yeah I know it’s blasphemy to go against Bope, but I really don’t care. I just don’t care about them together. On the other hand, Bo and Billie scenes always make me happy.

Cassie and Shawn-Before they became related that is. They really messed Cassie by making her related to pretty much every guy in that town.

Nick and Chelsea-I dunno what’s gonna happen here, but I love them together. I wish he hadn’t slept with Billie though.

Mimi and Rex-Just the very beginning of their relationship though…

Brandon and Sami-Probably my favorite Days couple of all time. I love Sami and I’m picky about the guys she’s with. Brandon is the ONLY guy I’ve loved for her.
