Introduction @ soapcentral.com
I'm Kriselda, and I'm new here :) I just recently started watching soaps again after about 5 years away, so I'm trying to get caught up. The ones I watch are "As The World Turns," "All My Children," and "One Life to Live."
I first got interested in OLTL during the late-70's/early-80's and watched for several years, then stopped again while I was in college. In the mid-90's, some health issues I'd had for a long time started getting worse and I became disabled, so I started watching again to help fill the time during the day when I'd previously been at work. During that time, I also got hooked on AMC - mainly from seeing the "next time on AMC" teasers right before OLTL started, and then picked up ATWT when Roger Howarth
started playing Paul. I stopped again in about 2003, but when I heard about some of the stuff coming up for OLTL's 40th anniversary, I knew I wanted to check in on that again, and figured "what the heck" and started recording AMC and ATWT again as well. :) I'm having fun seeing what my old favourites are up to, and getting to meet the new players. I'll probably have more to say once I've gotten a better feel for what's going on, which storylines I'm enjoying, and so forth, but though I'd at least introduce myself.
First of all, I would like to start out and introduce myself. My name is Lisa, I'm 25 years old and I've been an avid soap opera watcher for 11 years now. I started watching days of our lives in the spring of 1997. I was home sick with a very cold and the I ended up staying home for two weeks. The person was watching me at the time always without fail. Turn on the TV at one and was busy for an entire hour on the weekdays solons after I finished lunch I decided to see what she was up to when I saw that it was a soap opera. I had many questions, and the soap opera I am talking about is days of our lives. That was back when Eileen Davidson played played four characters on the show. I was a really big fan of John and Kristin, I didn't necessarily agree with their crazy antics, but I loved them anyway I would have the housekeeper who'll watch the show taped the whole week for me and I'd watch it on the weekends. I then got every book written about days of our lives just to catch myself up on the characters family trees and another important information. When I entered college, I tried my best to schedule all of my classes around the show. I would also go into all different types of chat rooms to chat with other fans. I noticed that a lot of people watched more than one soap opera. So I decided to add one or two more shows that I thought would be a good show to watch. One was all my children and one of course was General Hospital. I started watching the both of them in May 2003. I've been hooked on them ever since and I still do watch days of our lives and if I don't watch I always go on the message boards to see what's new with my favorite characters.
Another post should be coming soon as a matter of fact, probably in a couple minutes
So, some biographical background just for fun's sake, shall we:
- I am 27, female, Canadian, normally white, but because I forgot the sunscreen this weekend, I'd say I qualify more as pink than anything. Very liberal. Not very religious or spiritual in any sense. Single, and terminally so.
- I want to be a teacher. I'm dragging my heels on the application process. If anyone wants to light a fire under my ass about that (in a gentle way), or lend support, I'd love you for that.
- For those who don't know me from the GH board, I'd classify myself as pretty intelligent, pretty flippant, and pretty funny...most of the time.
- I also watch Y&R, and DOOL, but not all the time. I love House, Grey's Anatomy, Lost, Battlestar Galactica, Veronica Mars (rest in peace), CSI, the Simpsons, and just about every defunct cult show ever made.
- I have a very weird and highly dysfunctional family. (See, single, and terminally so...)
- I am a geek. Always was. Love math. Love science. Love sci-fi. Love analyzing tv. Superincredibly media literate. Love indie music. Make music videos. Play guitar. Draw. Adore hockey. Computers are my friends (yes, I have human ones as well).
Anyways if you've ever had any sort of personal question to ask me, you can ask it here. I'm an open book for the most part.
So here is to hoping the third times a charm.
I've got nothing going on at the moment other than I'm looking for a new job.... so that I can finally pay off my school bills.....get back in school....and graduate from college sometime this decade. :)
I really dislike the fact that I have slacked off where school is concerned, because I let it happen.
Nothing was standing in my way of getting it done, I just got lazy and put priority on other things in my life.
Other than that, life is good.
A little info about me I'm 25, a webmaster (programmer, designer, etc) and I run various websites, my newest one is http://www.theeverydaygamer.com. If you're into video games at all you should check that out.
