Jack @ soapcentral.com
Hi There!!! My name is Cindy, and I started this blog so I could post my daily thoughts about As The World Turns. My favorite couple is Jack and Carly, and I believe their characters are ALWAYS destined to return to one another. Thanks for visiting, and feel free to drop by anytime.
Last week on As the World Turns, Paul found Sofie on the verge of death... and instead of calling 911, he watched her die, tossed her body in a laundry bin, and then buried her in his backyard. Now, I know she accused him of rape. I know she was creepily obsessed with him, claiming to be pregnant with his child when she probably wasn't, out to get Meg, etc. I know she whispered Meg's name before she died, leading Paul to think his beloved was the one who had attacked Sofie. Still, though, the girl was PREGNANT. Possibly with Paul's child. Watching her die, even to protect Meg, was cold.
Now we have the mystery emerging of who really did kill Sofie. Right now they're def making it look like it was Barbara (even Lisa practically accused Barbara of murder), but my experience with soap operas tells me that a) Barbara is way too obvious a suspect, and b) it's way too soon for the real killer to be on the radar. I suspect that it will turn out to either be a nobody, throw-away killer, or someone other than Barbara or Meg. Possibly Cole. Or what about Chris? He was on a crazy drunken binge rage thing.
I was glad to see Luke and Noah back together, but then, of course, their reunion turned out to be brief, because Noah has decided to enlist. Really, will those two boys ever be happy and together? It doesn't look like it will be any time soon, especially after the previews showed Luke showing up at boot camp (or wherever) and telling everyone that Noah is gay. Jesus, Luke. I know you don't want him to join the army, but he's never going to forgive you for that.
I'm still loving Holden and Carly and their forbidden lust. Jon Hensley has a lot more chemistry with Maura West than he does with NuLily. I can't wait for Jack and Lily to find out about Holden and Carly having sex, and I have to say that I hope there's more of Holden and Carly together, because they steam up the screen!
Speaking of steam, I actually really like Janet and Jack together. They're fun and funny, and it gets Janet away from pursuing Brad. It'll be interesting to see what Liberty and Parker do if their parents start dating, lol.
Brad and Katie were cute as per usual, especially in their Fourth of July outfits on Friday, although Katie's make up was a little over the top.
This week I'm looking forward to more tension between Holden and Carly, more Jack and Janet, and the unfolding of the mystery of who killed Sofie. Also? Margo's going to catch Casey and Emily in the act! Hee.
Oh, and yay for twenty five years for Tom and Margo! They've been married longer than I've been alive, which is certainly saying something, especially for a soap couple!
Ryan Lavery is such a two faced, hypocritical, pain in the ass! He must think his shit doesn't smell or something.
I mean.... how dare he blame Erin's death on Zach!
In no way was it Zach's fault, it just really boggles my mind.... but then again this is Ryass, so what else was I expecting?
It was just so wrong.... on so many levels.
*I'm not even going to get into it or the rest of the argument.... that alone would take up 2 blogs.
I said enough on the boards today. LOL*
Kendall/Jack:
You know what.....STFU Jack!
I was doing fine with that scene (I was even liking it) until he mentioned that Kendall wanted retribution.
It's not retribution Jack.... it's JUSTICE! I can't believe he went there.
I understand Greenlee is his daughter, but he doesn't need to take Kendall's feelings and twist them into something else. Nor should he try and quell kendall's anger or somehow try and make Greenlee look innocent...... when he knows she did something wrong.
GreenBitch/Aidan:
*snore* Wake me when this is over.
Poor pretty Aidan being wasted on her..... when they can have him with Di (his girlfriend) on her last few days on the show.
Kendall's Dream:
Just awesome. LMAO
The Slater family at the park was beautiful.... but the ending was the kicker. She stabs Greenlee! LOLOLOLOL
Too bad it was just a dream.
I need to make an avi animation of that.
The Good, the bad.... and the Ugly.
The Good:
Today’s episode killed me…. I actually cried, and I’m not talking about watery eyes here people…. I’m talking about multiple free flowing tears.
-Erica Kane got into Kendall’s hospital bed and held her distraught daughter…… and told her “No baby, don’t cry.”
Just WOW…. I never thought I would see that kind of scene between Erica and Kendall.
I’m getting emotional just thinking about that….. and I want to go hug my own mommy. LOL
Damn hormones.... yeah that must be it.
I would love today’s episode just for that scene alone… but there were some other bright spots as well.
-Thorsten Kaye (Zach) took a scene with just a cell phone (his only prop) and turned that scene into one of the most emotional scenes I’ve ever seen on All My Children.
I am in awe of this man’s acting ability.
The audience is use the “unbreakable Zach” we’ve all become accustomed to…. Well Thorsten just broke him….. and I cried.
I’m a huge Zach fan…. and I’ve watched him intently during his years on AMC.
So when he lost it today, it felt like years of his bottled up frustrations came rolling out as well.
This situation with his son has to bring up sad memories of his past with Ethan (his dead son)…. And in some ways I think it’s also made him think of his own father (Alexander Sr.)
The bad:
-Josh giving Greenlee a ride home. Arghhhhh!!!!!!
I swear.... if he stands by the woman that stole his nephew….. he’s going to be dead as a door nail to me!
He always chooses a hot piece of ass over his own family.
I know she's his daughter.... but common! He knows she did something wrong.
He can be there for Greenlee all he wants (as a parent I would expect no less)..... but to just turn a blind eye to her is not the best fatherly thing to do.
The Ugly:
The Fusion scenes.
They were for lack of a better word…..crap.
It was so just so bad, I’m at an actual loss for words.
*Rant* (I had to let it out)
1) I don’t give a shit about Babe saving Fusion!!!!! (The whole fact that she’s working there period, is a huge complaint from the majority of viewers. It only makes us angrier.)
2) And I especially DON'T GIVE A SHIT ABOUT AVA BEING A MODEL!!!!
I really thinks it's time for AMC to drop the whole Fusion thing.
I wanted to hold on to it for Kendall... but I just wish it would die now.
I have been watching Y&R since I was very little. I even remember Danny singing with Lauren, Lauren being buried alive by a crazed fan or stalker, and John having a stroke which I think was due to John finding out Jack and Jill slept together. Basically I watched with my grandmother and my aunt who probably shouldn't have let me, but hey it was just a soap opera and really didn't cause any harm.
Now that said above, I really have enjoyed Y&R off and on for years, more on than off. I was happy to see recast Jack. Peter Bergman was and still is an excellent replacement. The fact he won the first acting emmy for Y&R should prove that. Brenda Epperson was fabulous as Ashley during the years she was married to Victor and had to stomach Victoria always butting heads with her. Also, Jess Walton made me like Jill. Even as a little kid I figured if she gave John a stroke she was a bad lady so that was saying alot.
So this leads me to a question. What happened as far as recasts and adding new characters? They aren't as easily integrated as they used to be and many serve no purpose or have any fan following to speak of.
When they recast Lily it was a difficult transition and one that Davetta Sherwood should have been allowed to make, but the writers didn't give her time to grow or work into the roll. They immediately revealed that Malcolm was her father and threw her to the wolves so to speak. The recast of Gloria from Joan Van Ark to Judith Chapman was a better move, but again Gloria's character wasn't given a true chance to change. We all had to know she was going in a tiny bit different direction and that Chapman wouldn't play her as over the top as Van Ark, but frankly again they didn't give Gloria any character growth and they made Jack and Ashley look like spoilt brats in an attempt to prop and garner sympathy for the character.
Which brings me to new characters or transplanted characters as one is, Cane and Amber. Is there truly a purpose for Amber? Really all she has done is made Jill's son(if he really is) look like a fool and Daniel has gone from misunderstood, but trying to do right young man, to a lying addicted porn net surfer. There's no rhyme or reason for either move. Jill's son would be better equipped to handle lies and tell a liar imo even if she hadn't raised him and Daniel survived a major car accident, almost being sent to prison for life, and he repays all of his good fortune by listening to Amber(Ambrosia?) The characters are out of character somewhat for me now.
Y&R is still the best show out there. GH might be my favorite but Y&R will always draw me back in. I just see a little fraying at the seams and hope that before anything completely unravels things are reworked a bit. Katherine was vindictive in her day but she wouldn't have stolen Phillip's son drunk or sober. Jack probably wouldn't have started dating Sharon, he would have gone after Phyllis until she gave up Nick, and the Bradley obsession is going over the top. Every woman wants Brad this past decade and I truly don't get it, but to each his own.
This ends my Y&R rant for now. When I have more time I'll get into how I feel they're changing the character of Phyllis and how other characters are suffering from her sudden "Centerpiece" syndrome.
Again continue having a great weekend.
Mel
