Lives @ soapcentral.com
August flew by. School started and the weather was hotter than ever. Then comes hurricane gustav. We ended up going to Tennesse. We were there for a week. It was horrible. I hated every minute of it. When we finally got home, we still had no power. We spent 8 days without power. Lets just say we had too much family time haha. It was so boring/hot. Finally we get on track, hurricane Ike came. That actually did more damage than gustav. Anyway..everything is semi back to normal now and I'm glad that it is.
I've been watching Desperate Houswives. I love it. I was kinda hesitate about it going 5 yrs in advance but it was much needed. Bree and Gabby have been awesome. And I sooo wanna know about Edie's husband. He is acting really weird. I don't really like Lynette. She hasn't had much to do and neither has Katherine.
Brothers and Sisters have been good too. Although, I don't know if I like Rebecca and Justin together. And I want Ryan to hurry up and come on our screen. Thats when Brothers and Sisters are good, we they are fighting/yelling at each other. Oh, have I mentioned that I hate Holly? She needs to go asap.
General Hospital SUCKS and Days is slowly getting there too. The only soap I am kinda excited about is All My Children. I just hope this tornado is going to be really good as they say it is.
Class is starting.
I don't understand what Dena Higley is doing to my two favorite characters on Days of Our Lives. They share a rich history on the show and are both intelligent, independent, strong people. Why not use the natural chemistry that Jay Kenneth Johnson and Nadia Bjorlin have together and create a great love story for the characters of Philip Kiriakis and Chloe Lane? They are Supercouple material and the future of the show. They have a strong fanbase and following online.
Right now they are both acting out of character and Dena Higley has degraded Chloe to a brunette version of Nicole Walker. Chloe always had class and sophistication and would never sleep with her boyfriend's half brother, no matter what the circumstances were. If Chloe was going to be with anyone besides Philip, for a short period of time, why not pair her with EJ DiMera, who she has much more in common with.
I think it's a waste to pair Philip with Morgan, a character who has no history or family ties on Days of Our Lives and who isn't a strong match for Philip. She is a naive, overly emotional child and has no place in the world of ruthless businessmen Philip lives in.
I will not watch Dena Higley destroy my favorite couple on Days of Our Lives, Phloe. I will not watch her Summer of Lust and I will Tune Out the Blackout and I hope that others who feel the same way will do the same.
Pick a day (or two) over the next two weeks and introduce Days of Our Lives to a friend or family member. Be sure to help with back story as necessary. But, let them enjoy the show. Then, leave me some feedback to let me know how it went!
Cheers,
Laurisa

ITS NOT REAL.... PURE FICTION
To give you an example. My fiancee, who is LDS, and I had a visit from the local missionaries and we've talked and when I explained that I watched soaps, one of the girls mind blew a fuse. It took a moment to digest. Why? Because soaps are generally "girl's territory". They are written for the ladies, which is why I love DVR so I don't have to watch that much man chest going on, and the majority of the audience, I'd almost place it in the high 90s is females of varying age.
So how does Brandon manage to watch the soaps? Many times people ask how I can endure soaps to begin with. Sometimes, believe, it's a struggle. But let me tell you may background and then you'll have a better clue.
1. I'm an aspiring writer. I don't care what I write. I just write. Poems, songs, etc. And let's ask ourselves a question? Can a young writer get into the soap game? Yep. Do I know about soaps enough to write for my audience? Ya. I've watched them and I've interacted with my would-be audience every day since joining the online community. So I tend to think that I'm going to have a more realistic view of how smart my audience is, what they want and also realize, it isn't just for girls any more either.
2. I started watching soaps with my mother. My mom was an avid All My Children fan. I watched the show with my mom when I was in elementary school during summer breaks and so forth. So for years I was exposed to Adam Chandler, Dixie Cooney and Tad Martin (just a few of my favortie characters). I saw talented actors play fun roles of Hayley and Trevor. Very entertaining people playing very entertaining roles. This time I shared with my mom moved into my exposure to Days Of Our Lives and it stuck after I graduated high school. So now I was watching John Black, Bo Brady and the evil Dimeras and the extremely hot Kristen Blake-DiMera (Eileen Davidson is HOT!!! That's another point coming up). So yeah, I've had a long exposure to it.
3. The actors. Soaps have a crap load of talented actors. My first guy I came into liking was Roger Howarth. This man was so phenomenal that I knew I was watching something special when he was Todd Manning. Funny story, OLTL came on when AMC was supposed to and I got my first exposure to Todd Manning. He was in the middle of faking DID at this point and Howarth was outstanding. So there's one reason. Great actors. I could honestly take 11 guys from soaps and easily re-create Ocean's Eleven and it'd be just as good as the guys that played the parts. The only difference between Brad Pitt and Michael Easton? Pitt's known on a huge level, Easton isn't. Yeah, I think the guys are that talented. And you damned better know that if you see Brandon Eversoll as a writer of a soap in any form, you're going to see these guys get some shots at the screen plays I've got sitting and waiting.
4. The hot girls. Now a lot the actresses are just as talented as the guys are. Cady McLain, Kelly Ripa, and Erika Slezak. Extremely talented women. But Days of Our Lives exposed to well, the hot chick side of soaps. I found Dixie sweet, and Gloria cute but Kristen Blake (Eileen Davidson) and Billie Reed (Krista Allen) made me very happy to watch the show. It's a shame they've gone away from the hot seduction days. The devil as Kristen trying to seduce John Black? Hot! So yeah, at that time there was something for the straight guys. There's not as much any more, but then again my hormones aren't raging like they were in high school either.
So yeah, it's possible to have a guy like soaps. Heck, I bet most of the girls on this board could get their guys to tolerate the shows. Just remember to tolerate our pro wrestling (yeah, I'm a fan and it's helped with soap watching some days) and UFC. That's all from the straight guy! I gotta go see how I can get into Brian Frons ear about turning Nancy Lee Grahn into the next big hottie in soaps. ;)
