Vacation @ soapcentral.com

Hello!

Hey all...it's been forever since I've been on here!  I never thought my summer was gonna be busy as it turned out to be.  It's a "good" busy though.  I am having a great summer and I hope everyone else is too.

So here's what's been going on with me lately...during the last week of June we went to Door County, WI for a week.  That's an awesome place to vacation...it's the peninsula that sticks out the east side of Wisconsin...that place is always so much fun to be at.  The month of July was pretty busy...my dad and I went to Rochester, MN for a weekend...we used to live there so it was fun going down Memory Lane.  My sister had surgery on her ear last month...she accidentally tore her ear lobe a few months ago while taking an earring off, so she had to have surgery to get that fixed.  And pretty much for this whole past month we were doing stuff like going out to eat, taking our boat out, getting together with friends, etc.  And this past weekend my dad, brother, and I went to Milwaukee and then for the EAA Air Show in Oshkosh.  So yeah, this is turning out to be a pretty fun summer.  And tomorrow we're beginning a two-week vacation down the east coast, which we're all SO excited for!  Here's the itinerary...

1 night--Chicago

1 night--Columbus

3 nights--Washington, D.C.

1 night--Wilmington

1 night--Savannah

3 nights--Orlando (Disney World)

1 night--Key West

Then on the way back...

1 night--Gainseville

2 nights--New Orleans

1 night--Memphis

1 night--Kansas City

That is gonna be SO much fun!  I can't wait!  So that means I won't be online for another two weeks.  When I come back, I'll let you know how it was and share pictures.  So I'll see ya in a couple weeks...just thought I'd touch bases real quick Smiley

Home Again but No Food
Hello Everyone,
Just a quick note to say I am home from Isle Royale but I have no food and must go shopping.  Yet all I seem to be able to do is haunt the internet and worry about the folks in Minneapolis.  I was so overwhelmed by the story of the bridge disaster.  I noticed a headline about a bridge collapsing while researching something online at work last night but the byline of the story was Australia so I thought the bridge collapse happened there.  I didn't realize it was just a story in an Australian newspaper and that it happened in Minneapolis.

Well I am going to log off now so I can stop obsessing about "what if" I knew someone involved in the bridge disaster.  (Chances are minute but we humans have to personalize these things in order to comprehend them.)  Soon I will write of all the creatures I met on the island and about falling out of the boat (Rocky the Moose Puppet got waterlogged and smells a bit too much like a real moose... any ideas on washing him safely?????)

Here are some more thoughts and pictures from my trip to Atlanta. This is actually from Day Three (I have not yet got around to processing Day Two yet, but they are coming).

Day Three took me to some more cultural spots: The Botanical Garden and the High Museum. I also hit some other places, but these are the only spots that I will chronicle in photos. I didn't think it appropriate to take photos at the Martin Luther King, Jr National Historic Site. I also toured some of the magnificent Southern homes, but I didn't take any pictures because I wasn't sure these strangers would want their homes to end up in my blog.

For the first time in my life (with the exception of a brief layover a few years back) I am in Atlanta, Georgia. I am here on vacation -- mostly as a sidekick to someone who came down here for work. I was asked if I wanted to tag along and I figured I might as well because it's somewhere that I've always wanted to come, but really had no reason to actually make the trip.

So anyway, on my first day in Atlanta (Sunday) I went to the Georgia Aquarium and the Coca Cola museum. I drank waaaaay too many different types of Coke at the museum -- but it was fun :-)

Attached are some photos from the visit.

Here is what they are:

1. Large viewing tank, Georgia Aquarium

2. School of fish swimming by, Georgia Aquarium

3. Beluga whale, Georgia Aquarium

4. Seal lion feeding, Georgia Aquarium

5. Coke memorabilia viewing room, Coca Cola Museum

6. View of Atlanta skyline over the Coke Museum

Go East! Life is peaceful there...
Okay, it's "Go West" But I can't seem to recall any songs about going East. I am officially gone on vacation until Tuesday. I'm headed to stay with a friend of mine in Nova Scotia. Hopefully all goes well, and lots of seafood and beer is consumed. I'll be back on Tuesday, a whole lot fatter and drunker. See you then!
